Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, KCL

The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament Society at King’s College, active since its establishment in 1958, focused on advocating for an independent foreign policy that would distance the UK from U.S. military interventions, such as the Vietnam War. The society’s grassroots approach invited students to engage in discussions about nuclear disarmament and to challenge the continuation of policies that reflected colonial power dynamics. Although not directly linked to decolonisation, CND’s advocacy for peace and opposition to imperialist wars aligned with the broader decolonisation movement.
