Charles FW Cuffe attended King’s College London from 1849 to 51. He served in the 66th Berkshire Foot Regiment before returning home to Ireland for 3 years between 1854-57, he was then sent to India in March 1857. He returned to England in March 1865 and went back to India in February 1870. During this time, he ranked from Ensign, Lieutenant, Captain, Major, and then to Knighthood. Cuffe married Pauline Villiers Stuart in 1861, upon the birth of Cuffe’s daughter on the 23rd February 1876, Cuffe’s wife is mentioned as ‘wife cuffe’; confirming his wife as Pauline Wheeler-Cuffe.
