Charles Horsfall, born in Yorkshire in 1776, was the Mayor of Liverpool as well as a merchant dealing in palm oil from West Africa, and a merchant and slave-owner in Jamaica. He was also a leading member in the Liverpool West India Association. He was awarded compensation for New Hope Estate in British Guiana and Knowsley estate in Jamaica, as well as for three further claims in Jamaica as co-executor of John Thompson.
