Born in 1792, Cholmondeley was a peer and Tory MP, as well as Lord Great Chamberlain of England between 1830 and 1838. Cholmondeley had a role in the coronation of George IV, showing the importance of his family. Despite a brief interest in Catholicism, Cholmondeley was a devout Methodist. He first married Caroline Campbell in Gibraltar in 1812, but she died of illness in 1815. In 1830, he married Lady Susan Caroline Somerset. He had no children.
