Henry Chamberlain

Henry was the bastard son of Henry Fane, and brought up with the rest of Fane’s children as a supposed distant relative until he expressed interest in one of his half-sisters, whereupon he was told the truth and also posted to Portugal to become consul general. In 1795, he married his first wife, Elizabeth Harrod, with whom he had three children. In 1813 they were divorced by an act of Parliament, and later that year Henry married Anne Eugenia, with whom he had a further seven children. He died in 1829, and his donation to King’s was made post-mortem.
