Henry Moss, born in 1790, was a banker who inherited an enslaved person, Anna Regina, from his uncle who had a plantation and more than a thousand slaves in the Bahamas. Moss and his brother, John, bough Anna for £10,000 as well as a balance of 40,000 in crops, showing how much the family’s wealth was intertwined with slavery.
