Hugh James Rose

An English Anglican priest who served as the second Principal of King’s, from 1836 to 1838. Rose was ordained as a priest in 1819 and served in several parishes. He was a high-churchman and became involved with the Oxford Movement. He was appointed Professor of Divinity at the University of Durham in 1833 but had to resign after one year due to ill health. He was subsequently appointed Principal of King’s in 1836 but died of influenza-related health problems two years later.
