Jeremiah Harman was the principal partner of Harman and Co., an English banking firm. The firm was founded in 1740 and was in business until in 1846. It traded extensively with Portugal and also had close ties to the Society for Effecting the Abolition of the Slave Trade. Harman was the director of the Bank of England from 1794 to 1827
