Born in 1837, Bradley was a student in the Military Department in 1852-53. He went on to serve in the 14th Foot and 49th Foot regiments. He became Ensign in 1854 (by purchase), reached Captain from Lieutenant (by purchase) in 1863, became Major (Brevet), and retired as Honorary Colonel in 1881.
