The wife of Frederick Ponsonby, the 3rd Earl of Bessborough, the sister of Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, and the mother of six children including Lady Caroline Lamb. Henrietta was born in 1761 and sent abroad for schooling, as her mother thought this would strengthen her poor health. She married Frederick Ponsonby in 1780, but their marriage was turbulent and abusive. She was very interested in politics and often accompanied her sister to political events. She died in Italy in 1821, aged 60.
