A British physician and pathologist. Born in 1761, he was educated at the University of Glasgow and attained his MD from Oxford in 1789. He was Physician and taught anatomy at St George’s Hospital before establishing his own medical practice in Grosvenor Square, becoming Physician in Ordinary to George III. In 1790, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, specialising in morbid anatomy. He died of tuberculosis in 1823.
