A Baltic German noblewoman, who was influential in the diplomatic, social, and political circles of 19th-century Europe. Born in 1785 in Riga (then part of the Russian Empire, now Latvia), she married Prince Christoph Heinrich von Lieven, who served as the Russian ambassador to London between 1812 and 1834. She died in Paris in 1857.
