Thomas Gardiner Bramston

Born in 1770, Thomas was the son of Thomas Berney Bramston, MP for Essex. He married Maria Anne Blauw in 1796, with whom he had eight children. In 1823, after Maria’s death in 1821, he married Charlotte Hawley. Thomas tried and failed to become the MP for Essex in the 1820 general election, though when his opponent died in 1830 he ran again and became MP. He had been MP for four months when the death of King George IV called for another general election, and he refused to stand again. He died in 1831 of a burst blood vessel.
