Physical description

Description
A grey-white marble plaque with blue-grey veins. Broken into three (joining) fragments, which have been reconnected and mounted on a perspex stand. The edges are intact, except for some damage and loss tot he left edge, chipping on the lower edge, and loss of the extreme lower right corner - the text is complete. The epigraphic field itself is discoloured and very slightly lower than the surrounding stone (c.1mm difference), perhaps due to later covering or treatment of the surface which degraded the surface of the stone. The edges are finished, and cut back towards the rear. The rear is finished.

commentary

ISic000161-000164 were all found together and, as Bivona notes, should all belong to the same family, since they share the same nomen (Cornelius) and the Auctus of ISic000161 is the dedicant for his wife (ISic000163) and his sister (ISic000164) in two of the others. The relationship of Cornelius Castor in this text to the other three is not known (could be a son or grandson given the ages).
