commentary
Polla, here a cognomen, is derived from a common praenomen for women. For the gens Herennia, see also L. Herennius Certus, also attested at Thermae Himeraeae, ISic000181, as well as elsewhere in Sicily, e.g. iSic000496 and ISic00561. The gens Herennia is exceptionally well attested in republican literature and coinage, see Bivona (1994, 200).
