commentary

The text shows signs of the surface of the letters having been roughly chiselled away. 'REST', as an abbreviation (followed by an interpunct) is perhaps most likely to be 'rest(ituit)' or similar, which in turn suggests a small chance that the chisel marks reflect a third-century inscription subject to damnatio memoriae.
