Found in late 1922 during work to construct a water pipe along via S. Agostino, which borders the western side of the Odeon; the stone was in re-use as the cover of a late-antique burial.

Manganaro republished the lower right fragment in 1989 after observing it in the Roman theatre; Prag and Metcalfe did not locate it during study of material in storage at the theatre in 2016.

The three joining fragments were published by Libertini in 1923 and reported in AE 1984 after the 1981 reprint of various of Libertini's papers; Manganaro rediscovered and published the lower right fragment (of which it seems the upper right corner was further damaged when he saw it) without recognising that it was part of this previously published text (likewise the report in AE presents it as a new fragment). The fragments have not so far been relocated.
