commentary

The text is currently unlocated (the Siracusa inventory states that it was transferred to Lentini Museum). Rizzone 2016 after Clarke 2014 demonstrates that the text comes from Cava Ispica, and not from Siracusa. The text requires fresh consideration, as both the surviving transcriptions from autopsy by Hoare in the 18th (see Clarke) and Orsi in the 19th centuries favour the reading proposed by Fuhrer for lines 3-4.
