commentary

The epitaph presents the name of the deceased (in the lacuna) and the indication of age. A second sentence contains the name of the dedicant, the dedication verb (in the form ἐποίσε, attested in other two inscriptions of Catania, IMusCatania 65 = ISic003223 and IG 14.1852 = ISic003246, see Korhonen 2004: 195-196) and the formula μνήμης χάριν. The name Ὑγία/Ὑγίεια is frequently attested in the imperial age also in Sicily (LGPN 3A: 439).
