commentary

The Christian funerary inscription records the name of the deceased, Πριμιγένιος (cf. Πριμιγένης in IG XIV 467 = ISic001291 and Πριμογένης in IG XIV 546 = ISic001365, both from Catania), together with some ranks of the ecclesiastical hierarchy (cf. Grossi Gondi 1920, 120–125, 133–136); on the reading at l. 4 θυρ[ωρός, see Agnello (1953 n. 54).
