commentary

The layout of the fragment in the drawing(s) by Orsi leaves open the possibility that the header was DMS or similar, given the apparent centring. The text could plausibly be restored to record a Staius Eutyches (the combination is attested in southern Italy in the Roman period), and the uncertain letters of the final line could be AN(nis) V M(ensibus) ---.
