Description
Two non-joining fragments of an off-white limestone. Fragment (a) is cut-down into a rectangular block; fragment (b) broken on all sides. Both only roughly finished on the reverse. Fragment (a) is H 26.5 cm x W 15 cm x D 14.5 cm; fragment (b) is H 17cm x W 30.5 cm x D 17 cm. Both fragment have a simple raised moulding bordering the text down the right margin.

commentary

Orsi proposed that the two fragments belonged to the same inscription, and there are no good grounds to doubt this. The carving technique is unusual, as is the switch in forms of alpha within the space of a couple of letters.
