commentary
The epitaph presents an acclamation to the deceased (occasionally accompanied by the epithet), characteristic of the Hellenistic age: see IMusCatania 4 (Φιλοκλῆ χρηστὲ χαῖρε). The name of the deceased can be Φιλόξενος or Φιλοξένα: the first name is largely attested in Sicily (see LGPN 3A: 460).
