commentary

Korhonen considers the inscription not urban due to the fact that it is not edited by Kaibel: it is a pagan epitaph (there are no Christian references) with a structure more typical of urban inscriptions: εὐψύχει preceded by the name of the deceased is also found in Rome in IGUR 486, 954, 1138. On the name of the deceased, see also IGUR 501. The term κυρία is an honorific and affectionate epithet found in other inscriptions from Catania: IG 14.525 = ISic000964 and IG 14.542 = ISic001361.
