commentary

Originally published and restored by Cagiano de Azevedo as a dedication to a Sempronius Atratinus, perhaps son of the consul of 34 BCE, as flamen of Augusta, by the man attested in CIL 10.7501 on Gozo/Gallus. Tansey offers strong arguments in favour of reading the text instead as an honorific for the consul of 34 BC, as augur and imperator, subsequent to his triumph of 21 BCE.
