commentary
The precise relationship of this fragment to the principal fragments of the cadastral inscription (ISic001174) remains uncertain. The fragmentary text is variously interpreted to refer to arrangements for land distribution or leasing, or for the resolution of disputes of ownership; in any event, some form of contextual relationship with the cadastral text seems highly likely, whether actually part of the same stone or not. Arena has recently highlighted the physical difference with the other known fragments (this fragment is about half the thickness of those known from the cadastral text), although the variability even across this one piece indicates that this cannot by itself be definitive. It remains the most prudent option to treat this as a separate, even if closely connected text.
