The funerary inscription records the age at death of the deceased, Martirios, a name typically associated with Christian contexts (the name is also attested in Syracuse, see IG XIV 151, ASSiracusano 1956, 54). The final formula is commonly found in Christian epitaphs, often accompanied by the deceased's name in the vocative (cf. IG IV 653; SEG 15.627). In the present inscription, however, the formula is followed by a Christogram in the nominative, as indicated by the presence of the letter sigma.
