commentary
The common Latin form for this fairly common Greek name (Limnaios) is Limnaeus (e.g. CIL VI 22081; AE 2001, 584). It is unclear whether this inscription is addressed to the deceased in the dative with the not uncommon syntactic switch to the nominative subject in line 2; or whether the final 's' of the nominative form has simply been dropped or omitted, the 'o' already having been reduced in size due to lack of space.
