commentary

The name Proxenos is rare, known only in Sicily for the brother of the Syracusan Hermocrates (Xen. Hell. 1.3.13). the name Loiïskos appears to be unique. Mention of architects in Greek inscriptions is rare. In western Sicily, another example is known from a pavement inscription in front of the bouleuterion of Segesta (ISic 3505). Another pavement inscription of approximately this date is known from Solunto also (ISic003067).
