commentary

The inscription lacks a known provenance, but the formula of οἴμοι ὀ͂ + vocative is only attested at Selinunte, from where another 12 examples are known (listed in Brugnone 2018 with discussion regarding the hypothesis of C. Sourvinou-Inwood that this may reflect the influence of a western Sicilian indigenous attitude towards the commemoration of the dead and the afterlife)
