commentary

Symbol of a five-pointed star. This sign is widespread throughout the ancient world and used in Attic ceramics sometimes as a mark, sometimes as an apotropaic symbol or as decoration. On the ceramics from Segesta it could have a purely decorative value (see Agostiniani 1977, p.17).
