commentary

The name Ἐπαμείνων is known in several places in Greece and especially in Athens (where 11 occurrences are recorded), but it is also common in Miletos, Priene and Erythrai (http://clas-lgpn2.classics.ox.ac.uk/cgi-bin/lgpn_search.cgi#lgpn_tabs_content_table). It should be noted the Doric dialect of the inscription (cf. hα), the use of coppa and the nexus ξς widespread in Corinthian pottery in the Archaic period (cf. Arena 1967, 57ff., nos. 42; 78).
