The name also occurs in Dubois, IGDS I, no. 148 in the inscription: Σκύτᾱ ε̄̓μί· με̄̀ θίγε̄ς (ISic020468). Dubois hypothesises that the root of this epichoric name may be related to with the glossa of Hesychius σκύτα· τὸν τράχηλον. Σικελοί and with the plural τα σκύτα which also denotes the 'neck' in Epicharmus (100a and 173 Κ). Cf. also Chantraine, DELG, s.v. σκύτη.
