commentary

This would be the first occurrence of the name, which then appears in Plu. Rom. 4.5, Ἄκκαν Λαρεντίαν in Rome. However, another version of the name (Ἄκα) is found on a millstone from Adrano (unpublished?) and on a locally produced hydria (the text is painted before firing) from Montagna di Marzo dating to the early 5th century BCE (Arena IGASM no. 121; ISic020580). Another loom weight with identical inscription (ISic020573) was found in the same context.
