commentary

According to Dubois, this is the Ionian variant of the feminine noun also attested in Megalopolis (IG V 2 536) and can be explained as the use of an appellative adjective to denote relatedness (Ἁμετέρα Ἀρχικλέος would be the same as Ἀρχικλεία, Bechtel HPN 512). Arena (IGASM, no. 43), however, argues that while for the occurrence in Megalopolis the use of the adjective followed by the masculine noun is sufficient to support Bechtel's hypothesis, in the case of this inscription Ηε̄μετέρε̄ could simply be a possessive adjective inscribed on the vessel.
