commentary
Similar to another document from Morgantina, a kylix exhorting drinking with an inscription on the interior bottom of it (ISic020711), this is probably also an 'interactive' document, to use Antonaccio and Shea's words (Antonaccio, Shea 2015, p. 60). «If this [sc. λαπε] is a Sikeliote Greek imperative, it is possible that λάπε is standing in for the aorist imperative λαβΠfrom λαμβάνω. If so, the bottom of this mug is exhorting the potential user to ‘take it!’ which is plausible if it were hanging from a wall or resting upside down on a shelf with the base visible» (Antonaccio, Shea 2015, p. 61).
