commentary

This document is one of a large deposit (c. 150) of lead tesserae found in a storeroom of Athena's sanctuary at the archaeological site of Kamarina. The tessera appears to have been used three times (see Cordano 1992, pp. 38-39). The first use can be associated with hενάτας on face a and illegible letters on face b; the second with Ἀριστίο̄ν on face a, hενάτας on face b; the third with Τίμο̄ν on face a, hενάτας on face b (reused from the second use). It seems clear, as can be seen in other tesserae (see ISic030197 and ISic030198), that the reuse of the document is always within the same fratra.
