commentary

This document is one of a large deposit (c. 150) of lead tesserae found in a storeroom of Athena's sanctuary at the archaeological site of Kamarina. Traces of an earlier use can be seen on the tessera: on the face a, turning the lamina upside down with respect to the visible text, TIA can be read, which must have been part of an earlier text, subsequently deleted.
