commentary

This document is one of a large deposit (c. 150) of lead tesserae found in a storeroom of Athena's sanctuary at the archaeological site of Kamarina. The masculine name Πυρρίας, particularly common in Greek and non-Greek Sicily (see for Greek contexts e.g. SEG 38.0949; SEG 39.1008, l. 12; Arena, ISAMG I, nos.39 and 50; for non-Greek contexts e.g. Arena, ISAMG II, no.122a), recurs on another tessera from the same deposit, ISic030254 (Cordano 1992, no. 127).
