King's Past / King's Future
The opening decades of the twenty-first century saw another reimagining of King’s global profile and the role of the university in national life. The expansion of Higher Education in the UK precipitated the emergence of a more diverse student body, while King’s position within a global marketplace of Higher Education drew large numbers of students and researchers from across the world. New research networks and academic relationships connected the university in global networks of knowledge exchange and generation. This research strand will consider how King’s has changed over the last generation and the ways in which new initiatives have transformed the student body, academic agendas, and college life.
So what question…
What are the challenges, opportunities, possibilities, and anxieties of operating in a ‘global marketplace’ of Higher Education? In what ways will King’s student body change over the next generation and with what implications for teaching and the physical space of the university?
