Description
The description as being 'pietra basaltica' of Manni Piraino is implausible, since the photograph shows a compact stone in no way similar to typical Etna lava stone; it must be a dark compact limestone. Likely part of a base originally?

commentary

It is difficult to follow Manni Piraino's suggested date of the first century CE. The letters have a close similarity to those of the later second century BCE agora inscriptions from Segesta, such as ISic001111.
