commentary
The restoration of ἀμέμπτῳ (or a vocative form, as Franz suggested) in the final line by Kaibel seems very plausible, but the more extensive attempt to resolve line 2 seems more speculative; however, it should be noted that the chrestos kai amemptos formula is not otherwise attested at Messana and more typical of the south-east. Kaibel does not clarify that the inscription appears in the addenda of Gualtherus, p.100.
