The fragment is briefly contextualised by Portale et al. in a detailed discussion of the evidence for the decorative scheme and internal phases of the 'casa delle ghirlande', who associates this with material from the main decorative phase, dated to 60-50 BC; the house itself is partially lost due to landslides.
