Apparatus criticus
- Text from autopsy;
- 1: The first part of the first M is visible on the right edge of fr.1; the traces at the end of the line are most easily compatible with M, although R is perhaps also possible.
- 2: There is space for at most one more letter at the start of the line, but a vacat seems more likely; a vertical stroke is visible after G·, in context either F or N(?); there is space for one more letter at most before the Q, but maybe none; traces of a rounded/circular letter are visible on the break after C, in context probably O not C.
- 3: There is space for at most 2 letters at the start of the line; fragment 2 preserves a supraline over a lost stroke and the top of a vertical (so either II or VI?); the upper trace of a letter follows before the break; fragment 3 preserves the edge of the eye of a P or R at the left edge; it is not completely impossible that VIR could be squeezed in across the break, but it would be very compressed.

commentary
It is impossible to identify this Quintus Pompeius, as there is only a trace of one letter at the end of line 1 where either filiation or cognomen would stand. Given the traces at the start of line 2 (seemingly G·F or G·N) and the presence of a tribal, the exact reconstruction of the naming sequence (and of the presence of one or more individuals, and so the width of the original stone) is very unclear. The presence of a preceding numeral (and so military or civic position) at the start of line 3 was not noted in the original edition.
