The inscription according to Agostiniani (2009, 115) is a numeral and a commercial abbreviation, most likely coming from the Greek area of Adrano, on the basis of the first editor's report, Manganaro (1961, 111), who attributed the document to the area of the Sikel settlement of Mendolito only later and on the basis of the presence of one of the two alphas in the shape of an arrow, ductus that occurs - even if not exclusively - throughout the 'Sikel' area of Sicily.
